About Us:
The Kiwanis Club of Berkeley is dedicated to serving the children of Berkeley and neighboring cities. Kiwanis Clubs are a wonderful way to build friendships, network, and serve the community.
For more info, please refer to the Membership, Past events, Calendar or Photos pages, or contact Jack Rosanoat jrkiwanis@sbcglobal.net. Here’s a summary of what we’re all about. Join us for Community Service, Networking and Friendship!
Service
We perform service in the community, usually as a family of Kiwanis clubs. Thus, we enjoy serving alongside college and high school students. Some of our recent projects include the track at King Middle School, Cazadero Music Camp, YMCA’s Camp Gualala, Young Person’s Symphony Orchestra, Reading Is Fundamental and Drop Everything and Read (DEAR) Day.
Also, we are proud to award over $40K per year in college scholarships to graduating seniors.
Networking
We maintain close ties to the community and each other, which includes UC Berkeley Circle K, the Kiwanis Club of Albany/El Cerrito, Berkeley High Key Club, and Oakland Tech Key Club.
In many ways, we’re an
extended family. Our membership ranks represents a myriad of
professions – accounting, architecture, cartography, city government,
day care, education, fire equipment, engineering, human resources,
insurance, law, management consulting, photography, real estate,
retail, social services, and, of course, retirement! Our network grows
even greater as we build relationships within the community and with
the youth participating in other Kiwanis clubs.
Friendship
We meet each Tuesday at the historic Berkeley City Club – one of Julia Morgan’s originals – , 2315 Durant Avenue. Lunch is from 12:15 p.m. to 1 p.m. followed by a speaker and program from 1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. We have a ton of fun at our lunch meetings between our invigorating speaker and program, announcements, auctions, skits and other unexpected antics. Of course, we also enjoy each other’s company as we serve and socialize at several events throughout the year.
